My Project

We have Harry Potter Day in third grade to celebrate finishing the book Harry Potter and the Sorcerer’s Stone. Reading a whole chapter book together is a big accomplishment, and this special day will help students remember how fun and exciting reading can be. The world of Harry Potter is filled with magic, adventure, and friendship, and celebrating the story with a themed day brings the book to life in a way that helps us enjoy it even more.

Harry Potter Day encourages a love for reading.

It shows us that books are more than just words on a page—they can transport us to magical places and help us learn new things.

I have planned activities for Harry Potter Day that connect directly to the story we read. Students will make wands, mix potions, or play Quidditch or other games, using their imaginations just like they did while reading. These hands-on experiences help students better understand the characters and their world. It also shows how stories can inspire creativity and teamwork, especially when we work together in our “houses” and cheer each other on during games and activities.

By celebrating the end of the book in such a fun way, my students will feel proud of what they’ve read and excited to read more. It’s a great reminder that reading is not only important for learning but also a lot of fun.
