My Students

The primary and elementary students at my school district are a diverse student body who live rurally. Many of the students can not afford extra curricular activities so our school community tries our best to raise funds to make as many opportunities FREE so they can attend. When possible we like to provide FREE food, FREE supplies, and FREE books. It's important to our school community that every child has equal opportunity to learn and grow regardless of their economic background.

My Project

Half the battle for a creative writer is organization. I'd like to teach my students about the writing process and give their homeroom teachers a tool that will motivate students to write more while staying organized.

These materials will be handed out to the first 180 students who sign up for this years' FREE Young Authors Conference at Grand Mound Elementary school in a writer's workshop.

During the workshop students will learn about the writing process, start a Young Authors Book, and share their writing with their peers on a volunteer basis.

Thank you for helping me make this years' Young Authors Conference the best one yet for our primary and elementary students at Rochester School District.
