My Students

CHS Cougars are kids ready to grow and learn. At our school, we celebrate a wide range of children from various racial, ethnic, and national backgrounds. As a federal free and reduced lunch school, we know many of our kids come to school with limited resources at home - whether that is food insecurity, major trauma, or poverty.

Our goal is to make our students feel seen, known, and valued regardless of their backgrounds, experiences, or challenges.

Coronado kids are resilient, accepting, creative, and engaged in learning. After an extremely difficult year due to COVID-19, our school is looking to not only return to normal but to find new and innovative ways to help our kids thrive.

My Project

After a difficult year of remote learning, disrupted schedules, and collective community trauma, the students at Coronado Heights are in need not only of enriching education, but skills they can carry into their lives to help them navigate change, cope with big feelings, and care for their brains and body. Yoga and Mindfulness Club will be able to do just that!

These yoga mats will provide students dealing with anxiety, trauma, and other challenges a soft place to land - both physically and mentally!

We believe that regulated and cared for children are ready to learn. Research has shown that learning mindfulness skills and practicing breathing and intentional movement helps decrease anxiety, improve focus, and regulate emotions and body. Yoga Club will aim to grow students' ability to do all of these things - helping them be successful at school and healthier individuals.
