Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
I am a counselor at a Title I middle school in Texas, and I sponsor an organization called Young Men of Distinction, or YMOD, which helps at-risk young men to learn social skills and develop a desire to stay in school.
This middle school is a Title I school because more than fifty percent of the area is considered below the poverty level.
Many of the students are at-risk of dropping out or getting into trouble throughout the school year and need counseling and social skills to develop a better attitude toward education. It is important to keep these young men in the classroom and encourage them to pass the state test and advance to the next grade level.
My Project
My students need a color printer in order to provide a way for them to complete school projects, invitations, brochures, thank you notes, and other projects. This resource will help us by providing a way for the students to complete school projects. In addition, it will help with scrapbooking, printing pictures and photos, and yearbook pictures of the events in which the boys participate. The boys participate in many special activities throughout the year, and we invite guest speakers to help motivate them by getting them to understand their potential. The printer will help with being able to preserve valuable memories as well as with all of the other projects.
This printer will be a valuable resource to our students.
This resource will provide a way for us to preserve memories and print brochures, invitations to guest speakers, pictures, projects, letters, and a lot more. In addition, having the necessary supplies helps keep the students motivated to produce quality work and projects.
