My students need student-centered learning and personalized learning. I saw how flexible seating impacted classrooms and students at Palo Alto High School and I want to emulate that.
This project expired on December 12, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students are passionate about having a positive impact on the world and are willing to start thinking broadly about their surroundings and experiences that may not be their own. They have a lot of personality and jump on the chance to rigorously discuss topical issues. All five of my classes have a strong emphasis on social justice and focus on evolving student consciousness through reading and writing. I am looking to enhance my classroom through flexible seating and student choice.
My classroom is a place where students evolve through discourse, movement, and collaborative learning. Flexible seating will give me the classroom environment that matches my teaching style.
Students are stuck in rigid desks that aren't conducive to moving into groups, circling up for discussion, or working in pairs.
Flexible seating will give students a greater sense of freedom in their learning environment.
The choice of flexible seating promotes student creativity and collaboration. Students are able to work toward gradual change and growth without the constraints. My classroom will fully represent student-centered learning and engagement with the addition of flex seating.
