This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

My Kindergarten students have boundless energy and curiosity. They are eager to learn and love to have fun. The students in our small, urban school bring with them their diverse and rich cultures and languages, as well as a wide range of life experiences to their classrooms. Some of my students are enthusiastic writers while others are hesitant and reluctant and this project will support all my students. Early Learners must develop fine motor skills and automaticity in identifying and writing letters and the process of writing and drawing is vital to the development of early literacy and communication skills. Students write and draw in all subject areas throughout the school day.

Learning to write takes a great deal of time, focus and practice and having ample and appropriate tools will help engage and motivate my students.

The Apple Pencil will help motivate and and help instruct students during handwriting lessons. Appropriate pencils and grips will help students develop the correct pencil grasps and reduce fatigue. High quality erasers will reduce frustration and ripped paper. Crayons and markers will be used to support writing, drawing and art activities and further develop fine motor, early literacy skills and communication skills. This project will support the developmental needs of all my students and make writing fun!
