This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are from various economic and cultural backgrounds. My class consists of over 50% of English language learners. My students need additional support, especially since they are learning English as a second language. Some of the many great things about my students is that they are hard working, energetic, compassionate and creative!

My students love to learn!

Students through my district have nearly a 97% attendance rating. They clearly love school and their teachers. They also love to move around the classroom and engage in fun projects and activities. A goal of my district is to have every child read at grade level-this is my goal for the year as well!

My Project

I want to allow my students to have a variety of ways to learn sight words. What I know about students at this age is that they love to use whiteboards and bright markers...especially to write on their desks. The vinyl stickers allow them to write on their desks and they also get the opportunity to have their own "teacher markers" with the bright whiteboard markers. These vinyl stickers also save me time in setting up during literacy centers and give students more space to work.

My students LOVE science and conducting science experiments.

With CD cases we will be able to watch seeds grow and students will gain a true understanding of the plant life cycle and how to take care of a plant. Better yet, students can take their projects home and share what they learned with family and friends.
