Write It Out: Journals for Students

Help me give my students journals of their own, so they have a safe, private space to write down their thoughts and feelings as part of our daily social-emotional learning.

My Project

Being a 6th grader is hard. My students are juggling new friendships, new pressures, and a lot of feelings they don't always have the words for yet. I love that they're still willing to be goofy and curious even when middle school makes that harder by the day. What I want for them is a few quiet minutes where they can put their thoughts on paper without worrying about a grade or an audience.

Giving each student their own journal means they'll have a consistent place to check in with themselves, whether that's writing about their day, working through something that's bugging them, or just doodling if that's what they need.

It's a small habit, but it adds up. Over time it helps them get more comfortable naming what they're feeling instead of just carrying it around.

Thank you for helping me build this into our routine and make my classroom a place where every student feels heard.
