I am a 4th grade teacher at a fully inclusive school in Louisiana. That means my classroom includes students of all learning abilities. The majority of my kids come from struggling families where both parents work, and there is a lot of support from home.

Have you ever heard that little voice in your head? I want to make that little voice louder for my kids! That's where the idea for the whisper phone and the Leapster came into play.

My kids are forced to be pretty close, we have 25 in a regular sized room. Some of them really need to be able to hear themselves read. The whisper phones are perfect for that. They allow the students to read softly and hear themselves clearly. The cool part is their neighbors won't hear a thing! Also, because of the wide range of abilities, my lower level kids sometimes are left in the dust. The Leapster would allow them to have some hands on practice in some important skills (and make them the stars because their classmates will be itching to get a turn!)

If you have ever looked into the eyes of child who can't get what they are reading because they can't hear it, you know my frustration. If I could, I would have my classroom set up in a way to allow them all that freedom, but that's just not possible. Bu funding my proposal you help me narrow that gap and ease some of their frustrations (as well as mine). Thank you for considering helping my kids!!
