Working While We Wiggle!

My students need a table to be in close proximity to the teacher when learning new skills. The balance ball chairs will allow students to wiggle and adjust while remaining seated and focused on learning.

Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our students learn in a low-income/high poverty school district. My students are faced with multiple challenges both in and out of the classroom. All students in the district receive free breakfast and lunch. Despite the many challenges my students face, the students arrive enthusiastically and want to learn.

A kidney-shaped table will allow me to be physically available to them to observe in close proximity and be ready to reach them to offer help turning pages, writing letters, and modeling self-help skills.

The 3, 4, 5-year-old students are learning in an integrated classroom. To create order and respect the individuals learning needs we need a kidney-shaped table that offers space for the students' materials, eye to eye contact with the teacher and comfortable seating that responds to students need for movement while maintaining focus. Meeting physical needs will increase learning opportunities and success! Thank you for helping us to learn.

My Project

Teacher presence and involvement fuels enthusiasm for learning. The kidney-shaped table will enable me to make eye contact with my students, be close to assist them with use of learning tools and give individual attention to students with unique learning needs.

Balance ball seating will allow the students to remain at the table for longer and wiggle as they need to without interrupting instruction.

With the kidney table and balance chairs, the children can experiment and take risks knowing that they will be supported. The teacher-student trust and relationship will grow and the progress will be measurable on a day to day basis.
