Our preschool classroom is a bustling world of integrated special needs and typically developing students. More than 3/4 of our urban student population are low income and able to participate in the free breakfast and lunch program. Our classroom is a place to connect students to learning with uninterrupted support, free of challenges they are faced with at home and in the community. They are learning through multi sensory media and tools that inspire curiosity. This project will enhance their launch into literacy allowing them to enjoy the magic of words, increasing vocabulary and peaking their imagination. Independently selecting reading and listening to literature prepares them for their academic career. The reading center will excite them with fluent reading, increase their ability to focus attention to stories, and gain knowledge through books and music.
