Working Hard in Any Language

Help me give my students the classroom of their dreams with a Nintendo Switch as an incentive for maintaining high grades, good attendance, and to enhance the community feel in our classroom.

My Project

We are looking to get buy-in from all students and change the dynamics of my classroom. I have four classes of twenty-two students each. We often think about recreating our classrooms to build teacher-to-student relationships. Yes, that is extremely important, but we never think about how we can create dedicated spots within our school buildings that promote healthy/positive student-to-student relationships.

Many of our students come from Africa to America and are English language learners.

Many of them have to learn English and have a hard time communicating.

Our principal and staff have spent countless hours revamping our school to ensure that we see everything through the eyes of the child.

The biggest obstacle to eliminate is poor attendance for our ESL student population. We have many metrics that help us highlight student growth. But we lack the funding for incentives that our students deserve for making progress in literacy and reading academics or attendance.

Together, we can revolutionize the way our students view school. The Nintendo Switch can help our students build healthy relationships with their peers and reward our students' growth! We have the opportunity to study science topics along with solving engineering problems. With this, the teacher will be able to share the students from anywhere in the classroom.
