My Project

The new reality as a mathematician I must adopt is engaging my students with 21st-century technology. I thought of this idea as I tallied up the number of hours students are in school. Some of my students are dropped off at 7:00 am till 5:30 pm. Some students do not play sports. Some of my students are newcomers who do not yet know their numbers as they were schooled in another country teaching a different word for numbers. However, my students are hard workers and have a strong work ethic. They always try their best and I want to give them the best for them to succeed. Their social life comes through video games. It will be a good idea to reward my students with some time on their video games as a means of reward for good grades or doing well as a class on their unit tests.

Why not reward students who work hard and spend 6 hours a day learning?

At first, I was reluctant to provide time for students to play video games during lunch or during non-instructional hours, but then I thought about it. This is a new space I am exploring and hoping to connect it to mathematics one day. I am thinking of exploring students' interests and showing them what they can become and create if they apply themselves to mathematics in high school. They can be the next engineer who helps create the next game console or a game.
