My Students

My classroom consists of two blocks of third grade students who love learning. My students come from a wide range of social-economic and ethnic backgrounds, with some learning English as a Second Language while other students are certified as Academically and Intellectually Gifted. I work hard to build an engaging classroom environment that meets the needs of my diverse learners.

Creating a classroom environment that promotes choice, socialization, and collaborative learning through positive experiences is my top priority.

My students haven't had a normal school year since they were in Kindergarten. Returning to a physically distanced classroom and masked, while Covid-19 is still a risk, has made everything look and feel different for both my students and myself. Making the transition from home to school to sit at a desk all day has been something that has been an adjustment for all.

My Project

I do my best to incorporate wiggle breaks throughout my whole group lessons, but providing my students the opportunity to wiggle while they are completing independent learning tasks as well as small group instruction with me would help increase motivation!

There are so many benefits to providing choice in the classroom, especially when combined with flexible seating options!

Students meet with me in small groups for personalized learning and by offering wobble stool and wiggle chair options, students will have personalized seating options as well. Students also complete independent tasks around the classroom individually and with partners, and your donation would enable my students to have control over their learning environment.

Allowing my students the choice of how and where they are learning encourages everyday skills such as sharing, taking turns, collaboration, problem solving in addition to the content that they are learning. Our learning environment will become even more interactive through these flexible seating options, and will help students release energy while remaining engaged.
