Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

With the Reading Readiness Activity Set, my students will have fun using the magnetic wands and magnetic letter chips to learn early literacy skills, including matching uppercase and lowercase letters, identifying beginning and ending sounds, and blending and segmenting words. The Learning Resources Vowel Owls Sorting Set will help my students distinguish vowel sounds in single-syllable words using 100 engaging picture cards that they will sort into the correct colorful owls labeled with each vowel.

The Numbers Match Game will help my students learn number recognition, and the Elkonin Boxes Phonics Game Set will help them learn to read by segmenting the sounds in words so they can sound them out, blend them together, and read the words independently.

Students will slide a red chip into each phonics sound box to symbolize each sound they hear, which is an effective tool for enhancing phonics and literacy skills while helping students begin recognizing words.

The Word Builder Phonics Game Toy will encourage my students to look at a picture and build the word “bus,” then flip the picture card and change one letter so the word “bus” becomes “bug.” Learning to read and write short vowel words improves children’s phonemic awareness, reading fluency, and writing skills.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
