My students are a classroom of active, happy, smiling kindergarten kids at a public school in a city in northern Ca. Our school has 65% low-income students and 42% are English learners. I have 14 girls and 13 boys. They are all precious and beautiful. They all have the potential to excel in academics and graduate from college and have very successful careers. I need to give them a strong foundation to make sure their career dreams come true. I'm the teacher that has to make sure they learn all their letters and sounds and can blend the sounds to form words so they can read books. I'm the teacher that needs to make sure they learn how to properly form their letters and numbers, so they can write, count and add, and subtract correctly. It is very hard for little children to sit through lessons and pay attention. When lessons are delivered through singing and dancing and active learning games, the academics come easy.
