This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
We are a 6th grade Math class in Sumter, South Carolina. Located in a high poverty area, we do not always have the resources that we need to enrich learning experiences. Students often enter my class two or more years below grade level in mathematics.
I try to show them that math can be engaging and fun by incorporating real world learning opportunities and meaningful mathematical experiences.
My students love to be engaged in mathematics through Project Based Learning experiences.
My Project
There are kids that need to be moving while they are learning! They're not being difficult; they're kinesthetic learners. They learn best when they're using their muscles along with their brains! Wobble chairs are made for kids who have trouble sitting still. The base is rounded, allowing the sitter to wiggle and fidget to their heart's content.
Wobble chairs allow kinesthetic learners to choose seating based on their individual learning style.
These chairs will allow students to complete math projects in a way that helps to increase their focus and caters to each student’s needs. They also help students with ADHD as they are able to move while they work.
