Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
Coming to school is a safe haven for many of my 5th-grade students. Many of my students are Hispanic or Latino, in which 95% of the class is economically disadvantaged and qualify for free lunch. Many of my students have faced hardships that no ten-year-old child should ever face. Despite those hardships, my students are eager to learn.
Do you remember having the same type of chair throughout your school career?
Well, my students sure do! In this class, we are a family working on one common goal: to better our self to become the leader we are meant to be. The students in my class work together to better each other. In our class, we work in groups the majority of the day where students are constantly moving around the class having to sit on the same boring chairs day in and day out!
My Project
I am trying to get away with the old school chairs that are so uncomfortable for my students. I am looking to slowly create a class filled with different seating arrangements. The class has 6 bouncy balls right now.
The class is looking forward to more options to choose from in regards to a seat.
Right now I am switching the bouncy balls from table to table each week. The wobble chairs will provide flexible seating for 6 more students! The wobble chairs will be used in the class just as the bouncy balls. Each week 6 new students will be able to use them at their desks.
Students in my class move around all day because we are always working in small groups. The students will be able to easily move the wobble chair from group to group. The students are excited that I am creating a project for wobble chairs. They hope this project gets funded!
