My students need wobbly stools to allow for flexible seating, easier communication, and structured movement during guided instruction and group work.
This project expired on December 4, 2018.
Hooray! This project is fully funded
My students attend a Title I school in Key West, Florida. While we live where others vacation, many of my students' families represent the hospitality and tourism industries working long hours to make the best life for their kids. My diverse learners come with many cultural heritages such as Haiti, Cuba, Uzbekistan, Russia, and the Florida Keys.
Many of my students are bi-lingual making our work as learners, researchers, and scholars stronger learning and communicating with each other.
My classroom is designed for students to work together, talk to each other, and learn independently and collaboratively.
Students spend a lot of time sitting. Sometimes they sit on the floor and sometimes they sit at desks. Yet, sitting is not always the most comfortable way to learn. As a learner, I often lean back or sit at the front edge of my chair.
Students should be comfortable while sitting and learning.
Wobble stools are designed to reduce muscle fatigue from sitting too long while providing core stimulation. Active students sit on wobble stools and have to balance helping create greater focus and attention on classroom task and conversation. In my classroom, students will have the option to sit in traditional chairs or on wobble stools while we learn from one another.
