My Students

They are from rural communities that have been devastated by Hurricane Florence. Several of the students have lost vital academic resources due to flooding. One of the things that our students struggle with the most is vocabulary.

Vocabulary is an essential component to learning and achieving academic success on state mandated literacy test.

They are bright students who are motivated and eager to learn, but their is a lack of background knowledge related to literacy. The use of these resources would make teaching vocabulary a lot easier for our teachers.

My Project

These materials will be instrumental in enhancing their academic vocabulary when reading fiction, nonfiction, and informational text.

These students have lost not only their school but their educational materials as well.

Teachers have lost instructional materials and resources during the devastation of Hurricane Florence.

The Vocabulary Lessons 101 and Vocabulary Games will be a fun and creative way to enrich our literacy blocks. They will be placed at literacy stations so that leveled reading groups can use them based upon their knowledge and ability levels. That way lessons can be differentiated for each student. These materials will supplement our much needed literature curriculum.
