Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

Dry eyes, sneezing, and runny noses are all complications encountered by 9 & 10 years old in the fourth grade classes. We are faced with teaching students how to write compositions everyday. Teachers and students must be at the chalkboard to model, revise and edit writing conventions. Bring us out of the dark ages--out of the world of chalk dust and into the world of dry erase! Pecan Springs Elementary school is located in an urban area which is characterized by high levels of poverty (95%) as defined by the federal school meal program. 99% of our students are either African American or Hispanic. We recently were recognized for our exemplary performance in writing compositions. Our students take great pride in their accomplishments. Rest assured, that if funded, the dry erase board will be used for and by our fourth graders as a writing tool. Approximately 80 students will be served with this proposal. Think of it this way--you are lifting eager, well-deserving, and under served youth to a level of writing achievement that we can all be proud of. Write on!
