This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.

My Students

My Pre-Kindergarten students are enthusiastic "college bound" learners! They are intelligent, young students, but the reality is that their socioeconomic statuses and zip codes put them at an academic disadvantage, as compared to their more affluent peers. They are in dire need of having access to quality materials, both inside and outside of the classroom. However, providing them with the supplies necessary to learn in this context is a struggle due to severe budget cuts.

For most of my students, this is their first experience in a structured learning environment.

I want to be able to make their first learning experience hands-on and fun!

My Project

With the winter season just around the corner, I want to make sure my students have essential winter basics to keep warm. In the past, I have noticed many students coming to school during the winter months without gloves or hats. This is concerning knowing that most of our students walk to and from school every day.

To support this need, we would love to be able to provide each student with their own set of gloves and a hat to wear during the winter months.

We are also aware that some students only have one uniform set that they wear all week. The extra uniform shirts that we are requesting will be discreetly given to families that struggle to afford more than one uniform set. We want to be able to support our students’ essential needs to make their first school experience positive, healthy, and welcoming!
