This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is a non-profit elementary charter located in one of the most challenged urban areas in California.

About 96% of our students qualify for free and reduced lunch. Roughly 66% of our student population are learning English as their second language. We believe in providing high quality public education to the most under served children by striving to continue to improve our practice.

My Project

With a projector, I am able to provide my students vivid images of what they are learning. During our astronomy study, we can read about the latest discoveries from NASA, and watch clips of a probe landing on Mars. As we study heritage, slide shows of colorful images will be sure to reinforce the information of the cultures they are reading about, and may one day experience.

Some of my students have never traveled far outside their county.

I would like to open their eyes to the world and imagine themselves in bigger and better places. This projector will serve as the perfect vehicle to support their appetite for knowledge, and motivate them to achieve greater goals.
