Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

As a newly graduated, first-generation student, I am beyond excited to begin my first year teaching first grade at a Title I school in my own community! My goal is to create a warm, inviting, and nature-inspired classroom where all students feel safe, supported, and ready to learn.

The items I am requesting will help transform my classroom into a cozy and engaging learning environment tailored to my students’ needs.

At the heart of this project is the Kaplan Early Learning Leaves, Rocks, and Logs Rug, which will serve as the central gathering space for our daily lessons, class meetings, and read-alouds. Additional seating options like padded stools, wobble cushions, and floor cushions will give students flexible choices that support focus and comfort. Resources like the alphabet nature tree rug for the reading center/library, clocks, magnetic tiles, play-doh alphabet and counting mats, and dry erase tools will create hands-on, interactive opportunities to support literacy, math, and collaborative learning, all while reinforcing a love for discovery and play. The floor dots/carpet spots are to provide structure. And, the NOTASA Green Leaf Area Rug would make a perfect addition to our cozy corner where students can reflect and recharge for their emotional well-being. The laminating pouches are to extend the life of the resources I’m creating. The party favors are for motivating students with a classroom store. Finally, the modeling clay would be used by students to create gifts for their families before winter break.

My students are bright, resilient, and eager to explore the world around them. Many face challenges outside of school, and I want our classroom to be a place where they feel valued, inspired, and motivated to learn. Thank you for helping me build a classroom where every child can flourish.
