Mrs. Wilson from Charlotte NC is requesting flexible seating through DonorsChoose, the most trusted classroom funding site for teachers.
My students need flexible seating options, including Wobble chairs and cushions, balance balls, and lap desks, to allow movement and keep them focused while learning.

I am a third-grade teacher at a Title I school in North Carolina, where all students are eligible to receive free breakfast and lunch. I am also lucky enough to work with a group of 22 diverse learners everyday, My students come from unique backgrounds, and many of them deal with challenges, both in and out of the classroom.
Despite the different obstacles that they may face, they come to class every day with a positive attitude, eager and determined to learn and grow as scholars.
As an educator, it is my goal to positively impact all of my students, preparing them for a successful future. I constantly aim to provide them with authentic and meaningful learning experiences, ones that will expand and deepen their knowledge. In addition, my mission is to ensure that students have a safe and positive learning environment, where they feel valued and cared for.
My students learn best when they are focused and comfortable. With that said, they often they need several opportunities to move throughout the day and "get their wiggles out". Currently, my students sit in plastic school-provided chairs. These limit, not only their ability to move in their seats, but also any movement around the classroom. The solution to this problem is incorporating flexible seating, where students will have access to alternative chairs, as well as the opportunity to pick their own workplace.
Using flexible seating, and giving students a choice in where they work, will help them become more engaged, as well as accountable in their learning.
The products that I have selected for my project will be used around my classroom to increase student attention and learning. The balance balls, wobble chairs, and wobble cushions will be used under student desks and on student chairs, and will allow for movement while they are working. Last, the lap desks will be used around the room, providing students with the option to move to an area of their choice.
I have seen first-hand how excited my students are when they have the option to sit in a different seat or area around the room. I know that by incorporating flexible seating, they will have a greater ability to focus and excel!
