Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

My students are a group of hilarious, caring, and driven students. They have continued to show up on a daily basis throughout the ever-changing situation this pandemic has brought us. Although every day is a challenge, they continue to show patience and empathy with me and their classmates. These students have were engaged in distance learning but are excited to be back in their classroom.

My Project

Now that we have nearly completed one semester of in-person instruction, there are a lot of materials that we need. With our ever-growing class size, we have used materials quicker than usual. Our students also are working on their independence when it comes to voicing their needs and identifying and obtaining the materials they need in order to succeed.

This year we are focusing largely on our independence when it comes to navigating the classroom appropriately and obtaining the necessary materials needed to learn.

It is key that our students are able to advocate for themselves and what they need. We are starting with simple, low-stakes situations such as navigating the classroom which will be made simpler with the additional storage furniture in the cart as students will have constant access to the materials stored there.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
