My Project

I am a first year special education teacher. I currently teach 120 high school age students and have 15 additional students on my caseload. In addition, more than half of my students are dual language learners and come from low income housing.

The Whiteboard project will help my students have the ability to work in small groups with myself while the other students in the class are working on a predetermined assignment.

When students work in small groups, they feel more comfortable sharing their responses, thoughts and confusion without having to feel embarrassed in front of their classmates. With whiteboards students are able to show their work and it is much easier for me to correct their mistakes and see their confusion vs. examining a small sheet of notebook paper work. Whiteboards make the best formative assessment for checking for student understanding.
