My Students

I am blessed to work in a school environment that invites wonder and provides ample opportunity for members of our community to take part in daily learning adventures. We use the Reggio-Emilio approach to learning as our primary inspiration. We believe everyone is an active participant in inspiring growth and a love of learning in our school community.

The students I teach are high energy, curious, young people who enjoy learning.

My students express their joy of learning by taking risks in the classroom that help them to stretch their thinking. Together we experience learning through higher level thinking brought about by provocations that entice us for more.

My Project

Often students are reluctant in the math classroom to show their work. Whiteboards, such as the write and wipe graphing boards, and dry-erase markers are one way to make showing work a fun classroom norm. Whiteboards are a versatile way for students to converse mathematically with the teacher and with one another by making their thinking visible.

Students will use write and wipe graphing boards to participate in formative assessments that provide immediate feedback during checks for understanding.

The boards and dry-erase markers can also be used for independent practice and partnering work. Students will use the write and wipe graphing boards and dry-erase markers to write complete solutions to math problems.
