We've also had the joy of watching a squirrel. who has discovered our bird sanctuary too. The children have named him Nutkins. I love that wildlife keeps discovering this beautiful space.\r\n\r\nIt has also been lovely seeing our entire school community enjoying this space. Teachers are having lunch in the courtyard, meetings are taking place in this space and the Butler College students are meeting there for their classes. Our older students at the lab school are also learning in this space, taking part in a nature study.\r\n\r\nThank you again for your generous donation to this amazing project. I have loved getting to open the newest materials for my classroom that this project funded! These robots are wonderfully hands-on and teach students great fundamentals of coding skills. Using the colors on the mats, students have to figure out what each color means to the robot, and then can create an obstacle course for the robot to follow by putting the colors in different orders. \r\nStudents have loved trying to puzzle out what each color means, and the giggles and sounds of joy as they figure it out has been wonderful to hear. I am so excited to welcome these Sphero Indi robots into my classroom, and to use them for a long time to come with my youngest learners. I am overwhelmed by the quick response to my project. Having new materials for the year was so motivating to both me and my students. The excitement began when we saw the boxes arriving in the front office. I kept it going by allowing each of the six groups I work with daily to choose one box a day to open. It was like Christmas came early! \r\n Beyond the initial excitement, the students are thrilled to have fresh materials to use daily. There's no more disappointment with dry erase markers that write faded words on scratched whiteboards. This has even inspired the children to take more responsibility in taking care of our supplies, using the Expo cleaners to keep the boards clean and making sure markers are capped. \r\n It always amazes me how fascinated my kids are to examine our large wall calendar. One student in particular, Necole, has taken it on herself to mark the current day with a post-it flag. I love coming into our little classroom to see that she has moved the flag to help keep me on track.\r\n There is no way we can do this work on our own.
