My students are part of a design based learning school. The school is located in a low income area. My students are a bright group of individuals and are part of magnet program. Many of them are very excited to engage in scientific inquiries, however the district lacks funding to provide these opportunities on a regular basis. Students from this school often express that they have never really "done" science, but show much enthusiasm about engaging in experiments.
Whiteboards are a fun and engaging way to encourage participation in the classroom setting! Currently, I do not have enough whiteboards in the classroom to provide each student with their own.
I would love to provide every student with their own whiteboard in the classroom to ensure safety and encourage participation.
Having whiteboards, dry erase markers, and erasers will make learning much more interactive. Often times, students are more willing to share ideas if they only have to write them down, instead of verbalizing them aloud. We will use whiteboards in the classroom to engage in comprehension checks, write down answers to check in questions, review games, and brainstorms.
