While folders may seem like a simple classroom supply, they have already made a tremendous difference in how our music classes operate every day. Your generosity has helped create a more organized, professional, and successful learning environment for our young musicians.\r\n\r\nI teach middle school music at a Title I school, where many students are participating in band, orchestra, or piano for the first time. Before receiving these folders, students often struggled to keep track of their sheet music. Music would become wrinkled, torn, lost, or mixed together with assignments from other classes. This often resulted in students spending valuable rehearsal time searching for music instead of practicing and improving their performance skills.\r\n\r\nSince receiving the folders, every student has been able to organize and store their music in one designated place. We use the folders every day during rehearsals, music theory activities, and performance preparation. Students keep their current music selections, practice sheets, and class handouts together, making it much easier to begin class quickly and stay focused on learning.\r\n\r\nOne memorable moment occurred shortly after we distributed the folders. As students began labeling them with their names and organizing their music, many immediately commented that they felt like \"real musicians.\" Several students took great pride in arranging their music neatly and making sure everything was in the correct order. During our next rehearsal, students were able to find their music much faster than before, and we were able to spend more time playing and less time searching for misplaced papers. It was a small change that had a noticeable impact on classroom efficiency and student responsibility.\r\n\r\nThe students were genuinely excited when they first saw the folders. Many had never had a dedicated music folder before. They enjoyed having a place specifically for their music and appreciated being trusted with materials that made them feel more professional. For middle school students, having tools that support their learning can help build ownership and pride in what they are doing. The folders quickly became something students valued and wanted to take care of.\r\n\r\nThese folders have also helped teach important organizational skills. Students are learning how to maintain their materials, prepare for rehearsals, and take responsibility for their own learning. These skills extend beyond music class and can benefit them throughout their educational journey. As a teacher, I have seen students become more independent and better prepared because they know exactly where their music is and what they need for class.\r\n\r\nLooking ahead, students will continue using these folders as we prepare for upcoming performances and learn new repertoire throughout the school year. We are currently working on developing stronger performance skills, improving music-reading abilities, and building ensemble teamwork. Having organized materials allows us to focus more time on these musical goals rather than administrative tasks.\r\n\r\nThe folders will also be used to store music for future concerts, theory assignments, listening activities, and assessment materials. As students add more music to their folders throughout the year, they will be able to look back and see how much they have learned and accomplished. This helps reinforce a sense of growth and achievement that is important for young musicians.\r\n\r\nThank you again for supporting our students and our music program. Your donation has provided a practical resource that students use every single day. Because of your generosity, our classroom is more organized, rehearsals are more productive, and students are developing habits that will help them succeed both in music and beyond. We are incredibly grateful for your investment in our students and for helping create a positive and engaging learning experience for every young musician in our classroom.","fullyFundedDate":1786541594477,"projectUrl":"project/where-do-i-put-my-music/10317139/","projectTitle":"Where Do I Put My Music?!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Astorga","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6904186_orig.jpg?crop=3456,3456,x0,y184&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1758724903207","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6904186"},{"teacherId":6634143,"projectId":10397604,"letterContent":"Your gift is simply amazing! Middle school comes with so many changes, and something as simple as needing deodorant or another hygiene item can easily become an embarrassing or distracting moment for a student. Having these resources available in our classroom gives students a discreet way to take care of themselves, feel more comfortable, and return their attention to learning.\r\n\r\nAs students settle into our classroom routines, my goal is for them to see these supplies as a normal part of our classroom community, something that is available when needed without judgment or embarrassment. Trying to tackle 6th-grade academics on an empty stomach is nearly impossible, so having healthy snacks readily available in our classroom has been a total game-changer. It instantly takes away their anxiety, restores their physical energy, and lets them know that our room is a safe, caring space where their basic needs come first.\r\nThe earbuds have completely transformed how we use technology during independent work and testing. In a modern classroom, technology allows us to personalize learning—students use adaptive math programs, listen to grade-level texts read aloud, and complete assessments without background noise. Having their own brand-new earbuds made the kids feel like professional scholars; no more struggling with tangled, broken shared equipment or working on mute. It gives striving readers the audio support they need to succeed independently while building their overall confidence.\r\nYour support is already making a profound difference every day. When we unpacked the supplies, one student who typically gets overwhelmed by classroom sounds popped in his earbuds, activated his reading tool, and said, \"I can actually hear myself think today!\" Combined with a quick morning snack, my students are now walking into class energized, focused, and ready to learn.
