Where Does Water Come From?

My students need materials, activity sets, and books to learn about the water cycle.

My Students

Do you remember the last time you looked in the sky and could predict the weather? That is a skill that kindergartners are beginning to discover. Each day, I ask what that weather will be like the next day. At times, our predictions are spot on. Other times, not. So begins our quest for answers.

I teach a class full of eager-beaver kindergartners who are inquisitive, insightful, and imaginative in a public school in the state of Pennsylvania.

They are budding artists, scientists, teachers, and so much more. My school promotes feeding the imagination and broadening horizons to students as young as kindergarten with engaging, interesting activities that encourages outside-the-box thinking.

My Project

With the resources I am requesting, my students and I are going to learn about the water cycle and how scientists, including themselves, will use clouds to help us make more educated guesses about the weather. With your help, my students and I are going to learn everything we can about how clouds are formed, what different types of clouds tell us about future weather, and how clouds are a part of the water cycle. Through a variety of scientific inquiries using water, ice, and heat, students are going to make the water cycle happen right in the classroom. By reading plenty of nonfiction text about clouds, students will begin to use that information to become better classroom scientists. Students will also learn why water is a natural resource that must be conserved.

Your donation to this project will give my students an advantage to learn about something that is important to everyone on this planet: water.

I hope that by the end of the project, my students have a strong knowledge base about the water cycle, how clouds are created, and why water is so important to all living things.
