My students need some pillows and bean bags to sit on while reading. Right now they are just sitting on a carpet on the floor and while this works, it would be amazing to give them something more comfortable.
First grade is a critical year for developing reading skills such as comprehension, fluency and accuracy. One area that my students love is when they get to go to read to self. They love pulling books of their interest level and spreading out to read. Read to self is one area of my class that allows students to build their fluency and fall in love with new topics and books. My students are excited to know that they may have more options in the classroom!

"Ugh..I have to sit on the floor again." No one wants to sit and be uncomfortable while reading a book. My students love to do read to self and read to someone, but are sitting on a carpet on the floor.
I would love to see them really enjoy reading more by being comfy!
The pillows and bean bags that I am requesting will give the kids a few choices to pick from such as sitting or laying down. The bookshelf will also allow me to display our themed books in the reading center. The students will enjoy being able to get up and out of their chairs at their desk and relax throughout the room with a good book.
