Celebrating Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month
This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because
it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.
The courage our students show in facing daily challenges of life here in the US, in an effort to forge a hopeful future for themselves and their families, is nothing short of inspiring. Our students are recently-arrived immigrants and refugees, coming from more than 30 nations and speaking over 35 languages. They come to us with all kinds of imaginable and entirely unimaginable experiences and needs. They are resilient, fun, caring, and deserving of everything that we can creatively muster to provide for them.
My Project
These compelling novels will make great additions to our classroom library and provide what my students need most in terms of their development as fluent readers: motivation. My students can conveniently borrow these books from our classroom library, take them home, or read them in class. Your donation will help provide grateful students with many rewarding hours of reading fun! Research has shown that having appealing, good fit books ready and accessible to students has a huge positive impact on a student's desire to read and can contribute to a lifetime love of reading.

As a teacher, I may be biased, but I do believe that ease, comfort, and the pleasure of reading will provide a solid foundation for our students as they continue their journeys and explorations in all subject areas of life.
