It is simple in theory, but has really helped to build the team culture of the girl's soccer team here at the school.\r\n\r\nIn my time as the coach of this team, I have experienced many awkward moments of students not knowing how to relate to one another or not knowing how to be in the space, especially if they are new to the team. It is inspiring to see how easily they loosen up when there is music playing! Out of nowhere, students I thought were shy will start dancing, and students will bond over requesting songs and discovering shared tastes.\r\n\r\nHaving music present takes some focus off of \"being good at soccer\". It makes the energy of the space less serious and intimidating, and allows players to bring more personality into their experience as soccer players.\r\n\r\nThank you so much for your support of this project. As our team culture continues to grow and develop, I am confident that music will continue to be at the heart of it all!","fullyFundedDate":1760386598304,"projectUrl":"project/enhancing-soccer-players-experiences-by/9638658/","projectTitle":"Enhancing Soccer Players' Experiences by Incorporating Music And Play","teacherDisplayName":"Coach Natalie","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp10213946_orig.jpg?crop=1624,1624,x0,y151&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1755887709342","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/10213946"},{"teacherId":8600489,"projectId":8869579,"letterContent":"Thank you for your support in this project. Because my students have such wide variety of background knowledge when it comes to mathematics, it was extremely helpful to purchase a bunch of different worksheets and handouts to better differentiate the needs of my students.","fullyFundedDate":1734237129623,"projectUrl":"project/math-practice-with-struggly/8869579/","projectTitle":"Math Practice With Struggly!","teacherDisplayName":"Ms. Lo","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp8600489_orig.png?crop=317,317,x0,y19&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1660106210245","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/8600489"},{"teacherId":8600489,"projectId":8475564,"letterContent":"Thank you so much for contributing to this project! I teach math to newcomer students, many of whom are new not just to the United States but to formal schooling in general. Adjusting to a new country, language, and academic system can be overwhelming, and even basic classroom tools can go a long way in helping students feel supported and engaged.\r\n\r\nAlthough I'm currently out sick and not in the classroom myself, my long term substitute has been keeping me updated. From everything I've heard, the supplies you helped fund are already making a big impact. The whiteboards in particular have become a favorite in class. Students use them not only for problem solving and showing their thinking during lessons, but also for trivia and group games that make learning feel more fun and collaborative. The handles make a big difference surprisingly! Even students who tend to be shy are joining in more actively because they get to work with peers and write their ideas in a low pressure way.\r\n\r\nThe charging stations you helped fund have also solved a big issue. Having a dedicated \"charging station\" has successfully enticed many students to put their phones away in an area away from them (a major issue in our school and others) Now, with access to in-class charging, they're able to stay focused and keep learning.\r\n\r\nEven though I'm not physically present right now, I'm incredibly grateful to know that your generosity is helping create a welcoming, engaging space for my students. Thank you for believing in them and for supporting our classroom community.","fullyFundedDate":1734632304730,"projectUrl":"project/charged-and-ready-to-learn/8921516/","projectTitle":"Charged and Ready to Learn!","teacherDisplayName":"Mr. Ryan","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://cdn.donorschoose.net/images/placeholder-avatars/272/teacher-placeholder-9_272.png?auto=webp","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/9826997"}],"pageName":"schoolpage_3976","usesDonorsChoose":true,"infoPageType":"school","demographicsInfo":{"numStudents":290,"numTeachers":24,"percentFrplEligible":89,"percentAsian":7,"percentBlack":2,"percentWhite":6,"percentIndigenous":0,"percentLatinx":80,"showFreeAndReducedPriceLunchInfo":true,"showDemographicsInfo":true,"sourceTooltipString":"the National Center for Education Statistics","gradesServed":"9 - 12","studentTeacherRatio":"12.1:1","demographicsDataSource":"MDR School","equityFocus":true,"titleOne":true,"metroType":"URBAN","ncesMetroType":"CITY_LARGE"},"inStateSupporters":71.3,"schoolId":3976,"financialInfo":null,"twitterShareText":"Learn more about Oakland International High School on @DonorsChoose:","schoolName":"Oakland International High School","canonicalPageUrl":"schools/california/oakland-unified-school-district/oakland-international-high-school/3976"}
