Most of my students are experiencing school for the first time. My students have not spent much time away from their home and family and need a safe, secure, loving, organized environment in which to learn.
My students learn through hands-on experiences.
Pretend play is their way of learning and the more they use their imagination. They need to play, move, and explore.
My students have also had a life changing experience due to Hurricane Harvey. These kids lost everything and the things we have in the classroom have enable them to play, pretend, and just be kids again.
My Project
This project will provide my students with Tot Tutor table & chairs, colorful dishes from KinderToys, and safe, durable food from Mommy Please. I hope to encourage more vocabulary and communication with each other. They will be developing important social communication skills such as back and forth communication and listening skills.
My students will be excited about being "little chefs" in our Pretend & Learn Center.
Their brains crave action and there will be plenty of activity in the bright exciting centers.
This addition to our Pretend & Learn Center will create an environment conducive to learning and exploration of the real world around them. They are learning the important skills of sharing and taking turns. They will develop critical thinking and problem solving skills when deciding on what to eat and who does the cooking and who does the dishes. Through play with this food my students will learn about likes and dislikes and needs and wants.
