My Students

My students walk into our classroom every day full of life, ready to learn, and excited for what is in store for them that day. Our class mission is to be leaders in the classroom, school, and at home. We use the eight habits (adapted from Stephen Covey) to help us grow for the future. I want my students to know I believe in them and they can do anything they set their minds to.

Our school is associated with A+ Schools of North Carolina.

We are focused on the Arts. We are a K-5 school with approximately 500 students. Despite so many hardships, my students are eager to learn and do their best. They want to be in school because they want to learn all they can, so they can be successful one day.

My Project

My students are excited and eager to learn about the letters of the alphabet and the sounds the letters make.

My students are working to build their vocabulary while making connections to letter sounds.

These letter sound sorting bins will allow students to name different objects with initial sounds and create a hands on approach to allow them to sort the objects into proper bins with the initial sounds. Students will have a concrete visual and will be able to create lists of words that begin with each letter sound!

Students will be able to use these objects for thumbs up/thumbs down letter sound recognition activities as well as sorting games with their peers.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
