My Students

I work in one of two full dual-immersion schools in Utah. Our diverse school is a targeted Title I school, and my students come from a variety of backgrounds. The emergent bilingual students in my classroom are working hard to acquire skills in English. As their ELA teacher, I work hard to build their confidence, motivation, and foundational skills.

I teach two different classes and a total of 39 students.

The students spend half of the day with me and half of the day with their Spanish teacher. It is my joy to teach such amazing kids who work harder than any students I've ever been blessed to teach.

My Project

Confidence is power. I am intentional about focusing on confidence, curiosity, grit, and growth in our classroom. Through art, students are able to build so many skills that have been impacted by the Covid-19 pandemic.

With the items I am requesting, the students will use their creativity and math skills to create mosaics, learn to embroider, and practice STEM skills.

I am excited to see them apply their learning during Genius Hour.

Covid-19 has impacted my students social-emotional skills and confidence. Genius Hour is a time we work on those skills.
