Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

In the upcoming semester, my students will focus on overall wellness during advisory sessions. They will be creating a wellness toolkit and learning strategies to cope with life challenges. To facilitate this, we will utilize notebooks as a tool for journaling, allowing students to log their thoughts and engage in reflection.Additionally, we will assemble a physical student wellness kit, including items such as fidgets, to cater to one of our senses, touch. Scented stickers and bookmarks will enhance the sense of smell, while a Himalayan salt lamp will cater to sight. Alongside the toolkit creation, we will establish a "calm corner" in the classroom, serving as a safe space. This corner will feature books from our class library, providing resources for students. Snacks and water will also be available in this space to support them while they utilize the calm corner.

These carefully selected materials aim to equip students with lifelong coping skills.

They will have tools they can take with them outside of the class, and within the class, they will gain the confidence to take control of their overall wellness.
