My Students

In our low-income school district, my students are faced with several challenges both in and out of the classroom. To assist with the many challenges they face, I am looking to keep things simple and provide my students with creative and meaningful learning experiences.

Many of my students are being raised in single-parent households and receive free lunch based on their socioeconomic status.

These things may prevent them from getting ahead early in life and may not provide them with the life experiences many of us see as typical.

From the minute they walk in the door of my classroom, I focus on my students' potential and growth while they are with me. I may not be able to control their home lives; however, I can certainly control their experiences during the school day. By doing this in a creative and positive way, I am hoping to inspire even our earliest learners to continue on a path of academic excellence.

My Project

These materials will be used in our Wellness Center to support over 400 students to support their mental health and well being.

Over the past few school years youth navigated virtual school, major life transitions and major losses during the pandemic.

Our hope is that our wellness center can provide them an opportunity to center and relax when stress as well as process difficult emotions. The materials donated to our students will support them in their health and wellness as well as create an atmosphere of that is warm, inviting and hopeful.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
