The students that don't bring snacks from home are very happy that they have a variety of snacks to choose from. \r\n My students were more excited about the snacks we received than the pencils. I, on the other hand, am very thankful and appreciative about the pencils as well because we go through so many of them.\r\n The impact of students having decent snacks at school so they aren't hungry while trying to learn is much larger than you probably think. Students bellies need to be satisfied so that they can focus on their learning.\r\n From the bottom of my heart, I truly appreciate the donations of healthier nonperishable snack items and pencils. When the bookshelves arrived, the students were absolutely buzzing with excitement. The old, disorganized piles of books, which could be visually overwhelming, have been replaced by a calming, visually-friendly space that promotes independent exploration.\r\n\r\nOne of our next projects will be for students to organize our books by theme and subject, using colorful, easy-to-read labels with pictures. This project will foster a great sense of ownership and organization, as they learn to categorize different topics like \"animals,\" \"feelings,\" and \"transportation\". This will encourage students to keep everything neatly arranged and visible, students will be more eager than ever to choose their own books and settle into a cozy corner for a reading session.\r\n\r\nThe new resources have paved the way for our ongoing \"Independent Reading\" project, where students are empowered to make their own choices about what they read. Previously, some students would experience anxiety when faced with a messy pile of books, leading to less engagement. The new system, with clear visual and physical boundaries, has made the classroom library a predictable and inviting space. Each student now has their own color-coded book bin that they can fill from the shelves, reinforcing responsibility and personalizing their reading experience. This practice supports their literacy development by fostering a love for books and giving them a sense of control over their own learning journey.\r\n\r\nThe next step for our \"Independent Reading\" project is to expand our library and integrate personalized learning plans. Students will be encouraged to explore different genres and authors, and we'll be adding a listening station for online storybooks to support our students who benefit from multi-sensory learning. With the books neatly organized on the new shelves, we can now easily rotate themed displays—like \"Books About Friendship\" or \"Stories From Around the World\"—to keep the collection fresh and exciting. Your generosity has not only provided storage but has fundamentally changed how my students interact with books, creating a space where every child feels confident and capable of choosing their own reading adventure.","fullyFundedDate":1747236797296,"projectUrl":"project/bookshelves-for-reading/9093193/","projectTitle":"Bookshelves for Reading","teacherDisplayName":"Mrs. Stratton","teacherPhotoUrl":"https://storage.donorschoose.net/dc_prod/images/teacher/profile/orig/tp6901583_orig.jpg?crop=1:1,smart&width=272&height=272&fit=bounds&auto=webp&t=1578062315982","teacherClassroomUrl":"classroom/6901583"},{"teacherId":6901583,"projectId":9027866,"letterContent":"First and foremost, thank you so much for making my students dreams of a weather station come true! I also have enough on my own plate to now want to remember that too!
