This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Project

Help us create a welcoming and safe environment for our Family/School Engagement space! Our goal is to allow families to reconnect with their children and staff in our High School. Supplies will be used to help furnish space where youth address any issues or concerns that become barriers in their learning journey.

Goals

Facilitate a Relationship Between School and Family

• Connect with parents/guardians and identify family needs

• Support parents/guardians in providing a stable and healthy environment for their family

• Collaborate on attendance concerns

• Support positive relationships between home and school

o Connect Families to Outside Agencies and Resources

• Identify barriers to accessing services

• Make referrals and assist with navigating systems in the community

• Advocate for student/family needs within schools and community

o Provide Individual and Group Support for Students

• Be a safe person for students to talk to

• Provide short-term solution-focused counseling to support school success

• Offer skill-building groups to address student needs

• Provide classroom intervention/debriefing as needed

o Act as a Valuable Resource for Students, Families, and School Staff

• Be a visible and supportive member of the school community
