My students need choices for flexible seating in the classroom to allow creativity to flow without being limited by their environment.

My Students

The students in our school have a heart and desire to learn, but many have stressful home situations which can negatively impact the learning environment. Our town has very few resources to help our students; teachers often fund resources ourselves to provide for our students.

Our students need experiences that they are not given at home in order to break the cycle of poverty and give them opportunities for productive futures.

Students' home lives can be very difficult where students are struggling just to get food; therefore it is up to the schools to meet their educational needs and some personal needs as well.

My Project

Having flexible seating in the classroom allows students to have choices that will not limit their creativity. With flexible seating, students can choose how and where they work.

I will be using the six wobble stools at our reading group table and the four balance ball chairs at our activity table.

Students use these two tables for reading groups, small group math activities, and creative time.

By allowing students to wiggle during reading and station work, students should be more focused on their work. Allowing students to sit where it is comfortable for them will empower them to work as best meets their needs. I am very excited to see how flexible seating inspires creativity and focus in our classroom.
