My Students

I work in an awesome school district with second-grade students who demonstrate amazing dedication and passion for learning each and every day. Their love of learning inspires me to go above and beyond my traditional teaching duties on a daily basis. I want to give them all of the learning experiences and opportunities that I can. My students come from a school district with over half of its population coming from low-income homes.

I am truly amazed that my students, who are coming from situations that do not always provide them opportunities to make learning easy, are joining my online sessions ready to engage in learning opportunities and soon will attend school in person.

Their motivation makes me want to make sure they have everything they need to be successful. I want to make sure each student has the materials including a healthy snack and is ready to learn.

My Project

We love our Book Club time! Every day I read to the children after recess. The Horrible Harry series books are our favorite! Harry and all of his class mates come to life as we visit their classroom for a short time.

I would love for all of the children to have their own copy of the book to keep and read along, then they can take their book home and share it with their big people by reading their favorite parts over again.

The children find the characters really relatable and the we have a lot fun while learning at the same time! I use the books to introduce realistic fiction and reinforce text features. We create character Venn diagrams, explore the Table of Contents and sequence the story plots!
