My students need 35 writing journals and 4 great soft beanbag seats to read comfortably. They also need a pack of 6 small flat soft seats for working on the floor.
This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
Ever wanted a cozy seat in your classroom and could not find one to curl up in with a good book? My students are desperately in need of a more comfortable environment, if they are to become good readers.
My students are mostly boys this year.
They are busy and bright. They are excited about learning and school. My students come from a very poverty ridden area in Brooklyn. They come to me from foster homes and homeless shelters. Many of my students have a parent who is or has been in the penal system. My students come for breakfast and lunch daily. Their parents can not always afford to put a healthy meal on the table. A staggering 98% of our student body participate in the free school breakfast and lunch program. My students are amazing. They are always cheerful and always very excited to come to school to learn new things.
My Project
My students would benefit greatly from having a warm and cozy classroom. Already their reading skills are very poor. Having an environment that is not conducive to learning does not help my students. I want comfy cozy seating for my students to relax on. When they are offered an unconventional seat they rush to it and relax and read. They get a bit restless in the hard metal seats at their desks. Like adults they too want to feel cozy and comfortable when they settle in with a good book. Having comfortable seats would encourage my students to become better readers. My students would love some new journals to write in. Having a new journal to write in is an exciting venture for my students. They are very young and school supplies remain items that delight them. When they are excited about their materials in the classroom they tend to want to work harder to use their materials longer. Please help these wonderful children to have a successful school year. They are wonderful!

Having beanbags and cushions would increase their focus greatly. Help these amazing children to have journals to write in. They are truly deserving youngsters and we all look forward to your kind support now and in the coming future. We could not do this without your help.
