My students need rhythms sticks, dry erase boards, and bean bags to read, write, play and feel rhythms - the basic foundation of their musical language!
We Wanna Rock! A rhythmic knowledge is the foundation of a strong music education. Help us to experience rhythm in as many ways as possible!
We are a program for students grades K-10 with severe emotional and behavioral disabilities.
All of my students have some sort of Individualized Education Plan. Many come from poverty and have difficult home lives, but they continue to come to school willing to learn!
My students benefit from learning a lesson in a variety of ways. Most days in our room include movement, performance, games, writing and listening. The needs of my students demand the variety of experiences so that they may achieve their highest potential in music!
My Project
Our classes will use these materials to support their rhythmic knowledge in as many ways as possible - variety is the spice of life after all!
Students can use the rhythm sticks to perform rhythms created by classmates, themselves or the teacher.
Students can use dry erase boards and markers to be composers, complete rhythmic dictation and work independently. Dry Erase hands will allow for checks of understanding and promote individual participation.
Students can use bean bags to feel rhythms and steady beat through passing games and movement activities.
This project will allow for our students to have many experiences within the music classroom, promote independence, participation and foster creativity through performance.
My students and I thank you in advance for your support of our classroom creativity!
