Celebrate Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month

This project is a part of the Hispanic & Latinx Heritage Month celebration because it supports a Latino teacher or a school where the majority of students are Latino.

My Students

Our school is located in southwest Detroit. My students come to school eager and ready to learn. A majority of my students are English Language Learners (ELL/ESL). Their native language is Spanish, with little English spoken at home. It is necessary to provide them with as many learning opportunities as possible within the classroom.

My students are amazing.

They are unique in their own ways and have different learning styles. A variety of learning tools and hands-on activities in my classroom are a must. My goal is to help them achieve all their goals and dreams.

My Project

In my classroom, many students come to school hungry or get hungry throughout the day. This refrigerator will help me store healthy snacks that will be available for my students as needed.

The requested refrigerator will store our perishable foods such as fruits, vegetables, and milk.

Having access to a fridge is an enormous privilege, one that we may not realize is such a thing until we don’t have it at all. The refrigerator alone would allow us to have so many different fruits and dairy products in our classroom that would not spoil.

This project will directly impact historically underfunded classrooms.
