This project is part of the Black History Month celebration because it supports a Black teacher or a school where the majority of the students are Black.
My Students
My ESE classrooms are located in one of our county's Achievement schools. Children are placed in our ESE Self-Contained classes for a variety of reasons. Our class size, the age of our students, and the disabilities our students have vary every year. I currently service ESE PK and VPK. Our students have disabilities ranging from Autism, Down Syndrome, visual or physical impairments, and other developmental, social/emotional and language/communication delays. Their personalities and needs vary. And with these differences, it’s important to differentiated instruction, create engaging activities and provide one on one or very small group instruction to teach based on each student's needs.
Our main goal is to teach them how to love school and be independent.
We also aim to improve their communication skills, social/emotional skills, and academic skills. We want our students to learn how to be loving, kind, and independent members of society. We don’t create excuses for them but give them (and the people they interact with) the tools and skills they need to be successful and accepted.
My Project
These materials will help my fellow Pre-K and Kindergarten teachers and myself have a Pre-K and Kindergarten celebration! Unfortunately, parents will not be allowed to join us this year. Therefore, I have requested a photo backdrop and balloon arch so we can take pictures of each child in their cap and gown holding their completion certificate to give to parents!
This year has been a tough one and we want to end it with something fun and positive.
We want to spoil them with an honorable ceremony and an exciting day outside chasing bubbles, dancing, and enjoying a bag full of goodies.
