The pencils, binders, markers, and erasers have aided us in our learning. Prior to your generous donations, students were having to use older binders and share writing utensils. With more than 40 students utilizing and interacting with the materials and games you provided us with, there were many positive effects on our program. The end of the school year can also get very busy with testing and get a little more difficult for our kids, so the items donated have provided a little extra motivation and excitement for my students at this busy time of year.\r\n\r\nI would love to share some specific examples of how my students have reacted and interacted with your donations! A majority of my students have really been enjoying the Ask and Answer WH Bingo Game, which has been effective in allowing my students with language and social goals to work on answering a variety of WH questions and has helped promote positive conversational skills among my language groups. The Chutes and Ladders Board Game and Hasbro Operation Game have also brought a feeling of home and familiarity to my students as many of them have shared that they have these same games at home and thoroughly enjoy them! These are great games to play among speech and language groups in between targeting their skills and eliciting speech trials. The 3D Sound and Phonics Flash Cards have been a great addition for effective cueing for teaching speech sounds, especially when first introducing a new sound to a student. They really enjoy imitating the 3D movements of the pictures provided.\r\n\r\nThe sunshine and alphabet rugs have expanded our calm down corner/reading area to allow several students to sit comfortably at once with a book or toy of their choice when needing a break or time to regulate. Many students recognized the new rugs immediately upon entering the classroom and were so excited, that they ran right over to the newly designed area, where our \"book buddies\" can also be found. The bean bag frogs, and squishy sensory toys have been great manipulatives for my students who benefit from sensory regulation as well and are located near our calm down corner. We have fortunately have not had to use the LifeVac Home Kit, but it is an item that provides an essential peace of mind to our learning environment, especially when working with very young children who sometimes require snack breaks or snacks for motivation.\r\n\r\nAs we finish out the school year, my students are continuing to enjoy all the new items and materials that have been donated because of your kind donations, which have specifically provided excitement, fun, and learning as our speech-language program grows!
