Kindergarten students spend a lot of time on the carpet. We read stories, share our projects, and do our hands-on math activities. Other times we play games and puzzles even learn dances on our carpet. It is the center of our Kindergarten day. Our current carpet is just too small!
Our school is a small public school with a long history in the community.
As we near the 100-year mark, we have worked very hard to increase our student test score performance and have had stellar results. In partnership with our parents, the teachers and students have spent more time in early intervention strategies. We have encouraged our parents to participate more in school activities and in the classroom. The increase in academic performance shows how successful that partnership can be.
My Project
A new carpet will enhance my student's daily learning. They need more space than we have now. The success of our Kindergarten program means that more students have joined our classes. With more enthusiastic and energetic students we need more space! We need the cheerful and colorful squares of the carpet I have chosen to designate the sitting spaces and encourage the very best listening and participation possible. We use our carpet for listening to stories, learning songs and rhymes. Students share their own stories and their drawings with each other during carpet time. A carpet is central to the daily activities of Kindergarten!
A new carpet will change the daily performance of my students.
They will have more space to sit comfortably and I will have confidence that it is a new and fresh place for them to spend learning time.
